The sweet nothings you whispered in my ear were laced with poison,
The long hugs you gave me cracked my rib cage,
The deep kisses you gave me stopped my lungs from working.
The late night conversations created tired, unbearable days,
The smile that grew upon my face when I saw you began to crack and bleed,
The touch of your skin upon mine left bruise after bruise upon me.
Loving you was easy.
But being loved by you was painful.

- Comment from author about the poem: The message behind the poem is metaphorical. I mean that in a sense that I was never physically hurt or emotionally hurt but I mean it in the sense that being loved by this person was too intense and unbearable.
