First Love.

Fay Slimm.

First Love.

I see

butterscotch evenings,

red sky honied in amber-cream,

last light frothing waves

as sea's olive coverlet changes

to caramel-sepia.

I see

Twilight blush streaking,

drab dusk striped in humbug-tints,

pink cheeks surround day

as sinking in cherry-lip memories

dark paints clandestine scene.

I see

Treacle-soft times sealing

new fate in sugared vows, trying

each offered treasure

of sun-down discovery, eagerly

sharing mutual feelings

I see.

Chocolate-smooth dreaming

invading my mind, held sacred

young romantic secrets

exchanged 'neath moon, tasting

again of first-love sweetness.
