In Not Enough

SheWasTheSun

Although you see her every day

She lives so very far away

Her flesh may exist in front us

But her heart resides in Not Enough

It is there that torment claims her body

And expectations taint her mind

In Not Enough, her worth is rotting

And not a beam of light will shine

She won’t be staying, she keeps declaring

And on her life, she swears and cries

Her residence is temporary

Yet she only has a few more tries

Before the gates are closed and locked

And her poor bones, skin, blood, and soul

Are sentenced to a life of sorrow and loss

Incomplete plans and unreachable goals

So, my friend, tread ever so lightly

For the slightest misstep could lock her up

A simple glance or gentle nudge just might be

What it takes to enshrine her in Not Enough

Deeply felt, well expressed poem, "Sun". I, too, look for more.
