Withered

Alex Arnot

The mightiest of stones that proudly once laid

Ground and ravaged night and day

Piece by piece it chipped away

The hardened shell began to fade.

Supporting the weight of weaker gravel

That turned to rock as the stone unraveled

The way that time has shaped this land

Has made this stone turn into sand

The newer rocks will try to carry

This mighty stone that's weak and weary

And when the stone has finally shattered

The memories will live in the sand that's scattered.

Great write! The sands of time erode, much the same as flesh and bone. the rocks remember all sin, but they, like us, are just dust in the wind
