Crazy Horse Calls

Kurt Philip Behm

Beyond my consciousness,

in stark relief

A place beyond reason,

all spirits unleash

Beyond my awareness,

I inherit the wind

Each breath I blow inward,

new endings begin

Religion, a concept,

that God can’t abide

Dogma a pretense,

where idolaters hide

In my dreams there’s a voice,

that comes unannounced

Its structure on fire,

new words unpronounced

Time but a weapon,

to use on the weak

Its measuring stick,

to never complete

One question—one answer,

for all that transpires

In primacy wrapped,

no logic hard wired

The years I’d spent looking,

those moments I’d waste

When deep from inside,

with subliminal grace

The great Crazy Horse calls,

chanting words once unknown

“Your vision has freed you,

—its voice now your own”

Words of Mass Destruction...

choose yours wisely

I may be wrong, but what I see in your beautifully written poem is what is happening to all of us when we penn words with no idea where they came from. Now I know I only have to look for the "Crazy Horse"!

Thanks. We were all born with a 'vision' inside. Life's journey
    is about finding yours.

I wrote a book years ago, 'Searching For Crazy Horse,' about my
40-year ride (by motorcycle) through the Rocky Mountain West.
After several years I heard this voice in my ear. Someone was riding
    on the bike behind me.

Once I opened up to that voice, everything changed. I spent a lot of
time at Pine Ridge (Oglala Reservation the size of Connecticut), in
South Dakota while writing the book.

That bike (96 Goldwing) now has 180k miles on it. I'm due back in the
    mountains in six weeks.

    🙂
