The Shaking

PenguinPoetess

People surround as the tower crumbles

Voices, earsplitting against the blazing fire

Numb bodies fall to their knees, as an escaping is impossible

There is no continuation for their loved ones

Buildings flame and fill with smoke

Homes filled with possessions and memories

Everyone is hoping for recovery

As loved ones lose their souls

Too young, too brave, each one

A soul to protect

With no way for protecting

Leaving families aching

To bring back to life

Those lost in the combustion

Of the shaking

WELCOME ALYSSA ~ Thank you for an excellent first Poem . A very elegant free verse structure and a content that has touched everyone's heart. I was in the USA (IOWA) on 911 and it brought back vivid and horrific memories of the Twin Towers when 3000 innocent people perished ~ My Friends Son worked in the N TOWER but was out on Business that day. I was in CUBA when the LONDON fire happened but we had full coverage on CNN ~ I live near London so it was doubly horrific and we knew the death toll would approach 100 many are still unaccounted for and some jumped ! .Your poem captures the hopelessness of the situation before ~ during and after. Thanks for caring and sharing from the USA. Please pray for Theresa May (UK PM) ~ she is a Godly Woman but at the moment is under unbearable strain with no political majority and having to lead a divided Party ~ and cope with Fire & Terrorism and the intricacies of BREXIT ~ Thanks BRIAN (UK)
