  • Comment from author about the poem: CARDINALS thrive in Residential Areas and are enjoyed and well fed and watered by Humans ! The NORTHERN CARDINAL is the emblem of many Sports & Athletic Teams in the Eastern States and the bright scarlet CARDINAL COCK is a very striking emblem. As in most of the Bird World the Cardinal Hen is a dull reddish olive ! If I am reincarnated as a Bird ~ i want to be a COCK ~ but if as a Human again ~ I want to be a HEN ~ its a Woman's World ! Alas we don't have CARDINALS in the UK but i have seen plenty in the Eastern US States ! Thanks for visiting ~ all comments welcome ~ Love to All ~ BRIAN XOX

  • Fay Slimm.

So much interesting information to folk such as I who loving the birds around my Cornish coastline know not a thing about Cardinal birds - they are magnificent Brian and I am delighted that caging them etc is forbidden. Thank you for the lovely acrostic sonnet too.

Thanks FAY ~ You are a true lover of nature and I knew you would appreciate it ! Also I like to use some classical form and acrostic sonnets are a double challenge ! Getting a 14 letter phrase is the first issue ! But like HAIKU such structure impose a verbal constraint which is good for the mind. I love all the CONTRIBUTIONS on MPS but to me many of them are PROSE and not POETRY ~ but to each His / Her own ! Yours BRIAN

THANKS MALU ~ All birds have an intrinsic avian beauty and the freedom of the skies ! The ROBIN is the most beautiful (and cute) in the UK and many agree that the Male Red Cardinal is the most beautiful in the USA ! It is wonderful that they are so domesticated ~ it enables you to enjoy them ~ close up and personal ~ AMEN ~ Yours as ever ~ BRIAN (UK)
