The women laid with just one blow
Beneath black rocks in staggered snow
Shrilled in a belt of bloodied rage
Yet in a voice that I would know
My sister stood behind my age
Behind rough arms and worried face
A dress of green and white she wore
And such implored to 'run away'
Her skin was pale and there was more
Than this, when she was found ashore
Though in her eyes reflect the cliffs
Which bit upon that twisted lure
Above the lake we tried to give
Life to the waters cold and still
Yet if we drown we cannot live
And if we drown we cannot live

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem is based on a recent dream I had. I don't have a sister but in the dream I was trying to protect a little girl wearing a green and white dress. I was discussing the dream with a friend and realized that the girl was a symbol of me and my desire to hold onto my innocence.

A dream expressed so real that until I read your side notes I was beguiled by a sister's eyes biting on twisted lure - a clever repeat too of that final line.
Haha thanks 🙂
Great write
Thanks
