Down The Road

Noveyre

Hot nights, faded fireflies,

whole sky, living lightly

It looks like a few miles of bad road-

windows down, push pedal to go.

there were potholes that shook our sides,

but all those things, they make the ride.

Humming softly, with an evening breeze

the horizon far eager to greet me.

And the only rain are the Orionids

falling down on this sable street

wreaking white on ebony

myself enraptured in my seat.

And the east a purplish chalcedony,

where my road is leading

carrying me to solace and sanctuary

to a better place I'm steering.

Great poem, I can see you "enraptured in your seat", and don't forget, if you don't know where you are going you cannot get lost!

Good write, we are all on that journey to a better place.
