Darkness darkness my old friend,
By my side until the end.
Icy touch you chill my bones,
You and I we've made a home.
Light of day we've chased away,
In the dark we've learned to play.
It's so safe to live this way,
Others thoughts don't cloud my day.
Won't come out just wanna say,
Made my home I'm here to stay.

Relatable
Yes mate. Theres times when we all need emotional austerity. Its self help after all, and sooner or later, tomorrow dawns afresh..
There are times when the weather outside is just so bad we don't want to go out. Same with the soul, same with the mind. I do like your poem!
Good write may your home always be safe.
"Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence"
Absolutely great song but I always saw it as a collective angst and rebellion against capitalism and materialism.
I wrote this for a friend of mine who's marriage was dissolving around him, he wasn't rebelling he was accepting. Was a personal thing not a collective thing. We were jamming in his barn, we both play, music is such great therapy, got the inspiration from Darkness Darkness by the youngbloods. Another great song from the 60s
