Daughter

Edthepoet

A few more years to go
A few more tears to fall
A few more scars to show
And hearts worth breaking

Not everyone you help
Will prove to be grateful
Not everyone you love
Can be trusted

A few more lessons learned
A few more bridges burned
A few more voices heard
And faces fading

Not everyone you kiss
Will prove to be faithful
Not everyone who steals
Will meet justice

I long to tell you
The whys of what not to do
But I only gave you life
Now the living is up to you

For what it's worth
You should know
Before you go out
on your own
To try and make some sense
In this great unknown
To try and make a dent
In the status quos resolve

A smile can save a life
A child can stop a war
Sometimes a little time
Is really the only cure

In this mad mad world
That you made beautiful.
For me.
Yes it's a mad mad world
You have made beautiful
For me.

I love this verse. I must say that when you love someone you can not trust, that is a real pain. Specially if they are part of your family. Great poem Ed
