Dangers of repressing pain...

Q

A side of me has come alive again,
Forgotten and repressed.
My angel gave me wings to fly,
But all I did was crash.
My heart and soul are yours, you are my light,
But I can't bring my darkness into your life.
The hardest thing about letting you go is
I'm not going to forget.
My past mistakes have come to light,
And this time I am going fight.
I'm sorry my heart came with so many issues
Your love is the glue
that put my heart back together.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Opening back up came with its costs. A lot of repressed memories from my ex and Iraq hit me hard. I can't let my issues cloud her life too.
