1. O LORD God, you strength of my salvation

You my head covered in day of battle

2. When my spirit was o'erwhelmed in me

You did then my path see (x2)

And knew where enemies their snares had laid

By you they be repaid (x3)

3. Teach me, O LORD, to do your will

For you are my God still

Your Spirit is good, lead me to upright land

Guide me by your strong hand (Spirit) (x3)

4. The LORD for ever, he shall reign

He shall His rule retain (x2)

He God in Zion, to all generations

And we His daughters, sons (x3)

5. The LORD does heal broken in heart

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in extended' 8686 metre (Common Metre =CM. Now a little explaining. it's extended, due to the second line of each verse sung twice, and the last line of each verse sung three times. Well, not even that. The last line of each verse is a sort of 'round'. Sing 'em rounds properly , or else they're ghastly, and no-one knows where they are. Though they're singing from the 'same song sheet' (well, that's something, I suppose!).See the clip - see, I was helpful teaching ya how to sing this! heehee.

    Erm, apologies if this looks like some mathematical equation with the x2 and x3, verse numbers, and psalm & verse too! I'll give ya the whole chapter and verse every time, no doubt (the whole waffle)!
