The Similarities Between Love and Death.

PigletLuvr4Life

I sit and smile with joy and glee, but what's inside you cannot see.

I laugh and giggle and shed some tears but they're not of hope they come from fear.

With every word with every vow I try to focus on the here and now.

But I can't keep these thoughts at bay, as I sit there and watch you slip away.

I watched a love that truly exists while i sink deeper into the abyss.

I can feel it running through my veins, the little part of me that still remains.

But truthfully there's not much left, but still I try to catch my breath.

The future's not definitive and is always pending, as one love grows and it seems another's ending.

That's not to say that it's not there because I need you like I need air.

I truly love you with all my heart and I always have right from the start.

Now I'm sitting here alone dreaming of something I'll never own.

A love that's pure, honest, and true.

Like the love that was between me and you.

But I've come to realize and I've come to learn, I'm not meant to have for what I yearn.

Everything I want comes with a price and it's rarely good and never nice.

Fake it till I make it is what I must do if I have any chance of ever keeping you.

But I realize what I learned as I take a deep breath, there are many similarities between love and death.

WELCOME PIGLET (cute pen name !) Thanks for your first poem ~ which is full of PATHOS # but at the same time UNDERSTANDING (of the nature of Love) and HOPE for future Love ! Being a MAN ~ my MANTRA is "Better to have loved and lost" because I learn something from all my "Encounters with Love" ~ the Good ~ the Bad and the Ugly (that's the encounter not the LADY ! I appreciate that that MANTRA (of Lost love) is less easy for a LADY fr a variety of reasons. YES there are similarities between the "Death fo Love" and Death itself ~ BUT ~ Thank God ~ Female Friends of mine (not my Girl Friends !) who have cried on my shoulder and have threatened to commit SUICIIDE (because of a broken Love Affair) NEVER HAVE. Thanks for caring and sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) .
