What I Saw

I saw the sun today,

after months of darkness and gloom.

I saw a smile today, 

a reflection of what once was.

I saw hope today,

the beginning of a new journey.

I saw forgiveness today,

the healing of a shattered heart. 

I saw peace today,

of the mind, body, and soul. 

I saw friends today,

the familiar feelings of joy. 

I saw the light today,

it illuminated every thought. 

I saw my life today,

for the first time without you.
