Leaves of Summer

WL Schuett

ripples on the water reach my eyes

sitting so alone 'neath fallen skies

why was it so hard to see what was true

when all my life ever needed was you

the wind cut loose above the trees tonight

waiting for the water to still the night

when thinking about all the things I thought I knew

it seems all I was ever sure of was you

the leaves of summer are now burning on the hill

echoed in the smoke the sounds of love cut still

running through the hills the rivers flame

for written in the wind the sound of your name

blackness in the air stills my eyes

standing so alone 'neath fallen skies

but as the morning light shines on through

oh right there , there is you
