Shadow

Nicholas M. Langford

A monster lurks beneath my Self

Far too dark to find.

I fear it's power over me

From deep unconscious mind.

Although I feel it's presence

This Shadow I ignore.

It casts its self upon You

To spare me of it's gore.

I need the strength to face it

And force myself to see,

This twisted, outcast shadow

Is just a part of me.

Ah ... don't we all have a shadow, a dark side. Makes us all-the-more interesting, wouldn't you say? I like your poem, Nick!

The shadow of your life is always there especially in the light towards which we should all move towards. Good write.
