Inimitable Inauguration

Tune: Stuttgart

('Earth has many a noble city')

Revelation 21 v.1 - 5

********

1. New heaven, new earth revealéd

John in vision he was led

To see, first heaven, first earth gone

Passed away, remaining none

2. No more sea, no separation

Unified now each nation

Holy city, Jerusalem new

Comes down from God, time now due

3. Comes down from Him, from heaven, sent

As bride for her husband meant

Christ's people the Bride, he the Groom

Glorious abode, ample room

4. Great voice sounds from heaven saying

See, tabernacle of King

God He be, and will with man dwell

We shall all His great works tell

5. We shall be His people ever

He shall forsake us never

But shall be with us, our God be

Perfectly, eternally

6. He shall wipe away all our tears

Leaving only godly fear

End of death, sorrow, crying, pain

These blessings from Him we gain

7. For those shall be things of old time

But now a life with new rhyme

Holy comforts, for God will make

All things new for His name's sake

  • Fay Slimm.

Such a comfort to read these assurance dear friend - and so ancient the 4th century original .

Thanks Fay. Well, I'm very old so I say. I was around when it was first written! heehee.

Your poems should be part of the service, orchidee!

Thanks Fred. Some more 'modern' places will say - Oh I don't know, these sort of songs are not really where our church is "at". Though a more traditional church has printed some of my poems in their church magazine/newsletter.
