Melancholy.

Goldfinch60

Throughout our lives

We have many moods.

They may bring us happiness.

They may make us sad.

But sometimes thoughts return,

Thoughts that at one time were sad,

But now feel melancholic,

And do not feel so sad.

This shows us that melancholy is sadness,

Sadness that has taken on lightness.

Good write G/F. Are whisky-watering days a melancholic memory from the past, or deep sadness of the present for you? The phantom strikes (me!). lol.

    • Goldfinch60

Whisky watering days are a nightmare created by that fool who was with me at the Battle of Hastings in 1066!!

Quite liked this. Flashbacks do occur often (happy and sad).
      Love the last line 🙂

        Thank you Brycycle, much appreciated.

"Sadness that has taken on lightness." What a splendid definition of melancholy! Well done, Goldie.

            Thank you Louis, most kind.

I was only trying to help! They may have been too inebriated to win the battle, if I had not added water to it. Have you seen the tree where we carved 'We Woz Ere'?!

            Time does heal Goldfinch!

                Welcome

              • myself and me

The past sadness brewed with time is now melancholy.

Very true. Thank you for your comment.

Melancholy is one of my favorite things. It's become more of a habit at this point, but all the same.
                  Thanks for this Finch.

Thank you Nicholas, melancholy can be so relaxing.
