WHISPERS ACROSS THE PILLOW

lasergraph

The years have flown right past us,

And I just have to say,

You've been right beside me,

Every step along the way.

We have had our share of laughter,

But we have had some sorrow too.

We knew that joined together,

That we could see it through.

I have loved to hear you giggle,

I have hated to see you weep.

I loved to see the peaceful look,

When I lay and watched you sleep.

I have wrapped my arms around you.

I have kissed away the tears.

Knowing at every moment,

I have been grateful for the years.

For now no one knows tomorrow,

Nor where the future lies.

We still have whispers across the pillow,

Before we close our eyes.

The "whispers across the pillow" is so peaceful and warm. Without it, the night will be cold and long. Losing a loved one could be such an indiscernible pain. Wonderful writing and welcome to this group.

Welcome, your words while sweet have a somber tone and yet, while somber they don't seem sad.

It was written for the years we had and the inevitable conclusion we will face.
