Stand By

SheWasTheSun

Your words are empty and running low

Those racing thoughts begin to slow

Your crowd's filing out, row by row

The lights dim as you end your show

Smile big and take your bow

Take a breath and look around

For things will never be like now

These feet will never touch this ground

Take in every corner of this stage

And read over every letter on this page

Embrace every aspect of this day and age

Pack away your delight and rage

Go ahead, cry and mourn

Don't worry that you're feeling worn

Take a break, no need to perform

Rest up, for soon you'll be reborn

On a bigger stage, better and new

Built with care just for you

Brush the curtains as you walk through

This show is not over, stand by for act II
