A Mirror

Kurt Philip Behm

Looking into my face,

I see my father’s eyes

Staring back with contempt,

through a thousand why’s

Looking into those eyes,

trading fear for pain

My birthright rejected

—paternity’s shame

A strong reprisal poem nicely presented, Kurt! Very well done.

Another great poem, Kurt. Reading it I can feel the pain, even though in my case, staring back would be 'love'.

One thing about mirrors I'm always curious of, is who's story is reflected back for us to see? The one we expect to see, or the one we want to see. Great poem.

Sad piece of writing so well expressed - even though, like Fred, in my case love would be the reflection I see.
