Kurt Philip Behm

A Mirror

Looking into my face,

I see my father’s eyes

Staring back with contempt,

through a thousand why’s

Looking into those eyes,

trading fear for pain

My birthright rejected

—paternity’s shame

REFLECTIONS* ARE DECEPTIVE* BY WAY OF THE SHADOWS OF MEMORY * NOT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAPPEN* - AS SUCH* - BUT BECAUSE* OF THE DESIRE TO SOMEHOW or OTHER - MAKE SEANCE** ? OF IT ALL !

A strong reprisal poem nicely presented, Kurt! Very well done.

    Excellent!

Another great poem, Kurt. Reading it I can feel the pain, even though in my case, staring back would be 'love'.

One thing about mirrors I'm always curious of, is who's story is reflected back for us to see? The one we expect to see, or the one we want to see. Great poem.

AP, took the thoughts from my head! Great piece!

We're just on the same wavelength.

Sad piece of writing so well expressed - even though, like Fred, in my case love would be the reflection I see.
