it's nothing personal.

Ruth Fadairo

lately,
i've been keeping myself,
to myself

i'm grasping the true definition of
"solitude"

distancing myself from
the good and the bad
and the ugly

i want to know:
why are you with me ?
why are you my friend ?

what element of me,
turns your mind into a psychedelic frenzy,
that you still choose to stay with me ?

is it the way i smile ?
or perhaps the way my small brown eyes,
are complimented by the rays of our sun ?

or is it my lips ?
the way they kiss you,
oh so tenderly , ever so fervidly

or maybe it's my personality ?
i'm quite the funny one,
i know

i'll take time out from us
so you appreciate me for me,

after all, i am a special kinda gal
you just don't know it yet.

It's nothing personal for anybody else, right? Ruth, I do like your poem very much. Great writing. You ARE a special kinda gal!

This is such a simply stated accessible piece which gets the message across without the use of pretentious language - a work to be proud of.
