Stinkin’ Thinkin’

Accidental Poet

Sometimes life sucks

Yes, that’s true

Tears that flow like a river

Yeah, I’ve been there too

I’ve sat along beside you

Up on that shelf

Now you know why I write

As much for you as for myself

For even I

Must heed the words I preach

To build a better me

Of this quest I’ll always reach

Don’t let the past

Define who you are

Don’t beat yourself up

Cause you don’t shine like a star

Don’t let your mistakes

Be the blueprint of your life

Don’t cast self judgement

Over days and nights of strife

Defend your character

When thrown under the bus

And crying over spilt milk

Serves no real purpose

When you feel it coming on

That feeling your boat is sinking

Remember to love yourself

Don’t give into stinkin’ thinkin’

An important message done in great meter and rhyme. It took returning to the faith tradition of my youth to transform tons of regrets and sin into small droplets to drop into an ocean eager to swallow them up for good. Liberating indeed o rid oneself of the stinkin' thinkin'.

Thank you Gary for your kind words. Yes, it can take some doing to rid oneself of guilt and regrets of mistakes. I've seen my share too. Thanks for reading.
