For Aaron🌈

Allan Fitzgerald

I wish you could be here now,

You'd have no need to fear.

I promise to you brother,

Every cry for help I'd hear.

Had I not been so far,

Or had they let you be.

Maybe you'd still love life,

Maybe you'd still breathe.

The world I live in now,

Would love you as you are.

No, you'd not be welcomed by many,

But a helping hand is never far.

I stand up in honor of your life,

Even if they say it's wrong.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin",

That's what He taught me all along.

You're on my mind every day,

Sadly brother, your time had come.

Before that rainbow banner,

Could fly beneath the sun.

Rest Easy, Buddy.

This poem serves as my way of honoring his life, and the lives of countless others who have been pushed to the brink by people full of hatred.
