Illusions Of Pain

Accidental Poet

If a woman has not a tear in her eye

Does she really not cry?

If a man wears a smile on his face

Of pain in his heart, is there never a trace?

If a child should be lost from birth

As an adult, can they still know their own worth?

As a child grows to adulthood

How long must they pay for their childhood?

And a childhood never known

In a crowd, do you feel all alone?

Have you ever called to Heaven?

Begging for an end to this grieving

To finally let go of the past

Smiles on your face, how long can they last?

We all have a flip side

With smiles, we cover up the pain deep down inside

Behind closed doors the tears will flow

For our pride doesn’t want them to show

Only those of us can know the true pain of abuse

Some days, it just feels like it’s no use

But carry on we will

In discussion groups with love we fill

For we all know so well

Of how deep the pain our hearts can tell

You lean on me and I’ll lean on you

We’ll help each other stand tall and true

Let’s all hold hands

One big circle of love that understands

Excellent thought and to a large extent isn't that just what we do for each other here in mps. Hold each others hand when pain is pouring out of our laptop screens. Sympathise and bolster, care and advise. Screen generated hugs and yes it's okay to weep. This place is special like that, and we are special people us poets with our own individual needs.

You are so right. What we are doing with our writing is reaching for others for some conection so we can extend our thoughts, our pain and also love. We are declaring that we are humans. Awesome writing.
