The choice is yours

Aa Harvey

The choice is yours

There is a little ball of fur playing inside a paper bag

And it chases every ball that it see’s rolling past.

It is learning how to hunt, using stealth and quick reactions;

It is stalking its prey every time it moves and it waits in anticipation.

A piece of string is attached to a ball that is placed before the cat

And every time I pull the piece of string to make the ball move,

The cat leaps into action and suddenly attacks.

But its attention span is short

And soon it loses any interest when nothing moves across the floor.

But I can control the puppet on a string;

Do I mean the ball or the cat?

Or did I just make you read my words,

Simply for my own pleasure, just to amuse.

What do you think about that?

    Why you little -
All jokes aside, it was a fun read.
    Pets are just friend-slaves.
What do you think about that?

    • Aa Harvey

Thanx. I hoped people would see I was only joking.
      Pets are friends.

"Kitty chews on my shoes and he licks on my hair.
Always scratching on my favorite chair and jumping on the couch,
Playing in the windowsills and tearing through the house.
He's so full of energy and easily amused.
Kitty will attack anything that moves.
Causing trouble, starting battles just so he could be a part of,
He's a meanest little kitty so we named him..."

I personally think that animals are just happy to be loved and taken care of, and causing trouble of course.

        So you named him...Kitty?

While I was married a few years back, we had a kitten which we knew would grow into a cat. So we named her Kitkat, also like the candy bar. Great write Aa.

          Thank you.

I didn't name my kitten 'Kitty'. That's from a song called 'The Mean Kitty Song.'
My name for my kitten/cat was much cooler than that, but I won't tell anyone what it was.

"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur...
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr."

          • Accidental Poet

OK, we'll just refer to your kitten as your kitten/cat. Great write for the little feline. MEOW. ; )

You are a poet and as much as your writing is therapy it is also a pleasure to know it is being read. Keep toying with us.... i'll chase your wool

              Thank you.

"If it doesn’t come bursting out of you,
              In spite of everything,
              Don’t do it.

Unless it comes unasked out of your heart and your mind and your mouth and your gut,
              Don’t do it.

If you have to sit up for hours staring at your computer screen,
Or hunched over your typewriter, searching for words,
              Don’t do it.

If you’re doing it for money or fame,
              Don’t do it...

...If you have to wait for it to roar out of you,
              Then wait, patiently...

              When it is truly time,
              If you have been chosen,
It will do it by itself
And then it will keep on doing it until you die or it dies in you.

              There is no other way...

              ...And there never was."

I believe the cat have more fun to see you pull the string. 🙂

"I'm just an average man, with an average life.
I work from nine to five...I pay the price.
All I want is to be left alone, in my average home,
But why do I always feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone, and...

I always feel like somebody's watching me
And I have no privacy. Wo-Whoa.
I always feel like somebody's watching me,
Tell me is it just a dream?"
