Alone / not alone

Aa Harvey

Alone / not alone.

I saw red roses today.

I saw a tear drop too.

I cannot decide which moved me more…

I…love…you.

I heard the news of the victory;

I heard the world had been lost.

I heard they spoke of peace,

As they worked out what it was.

If a man has a battle plan,

Then you can be sure that he is lost;

The plan will never work.

If a man has a tank,

You will forever be counting the cost,

Against the decision’s worth.

If a man is a man, he would not need to fight,

But I am a man and I am never right where I belong.

I pick up a telephone.

The line is busy,

E.T. is phoning home.

Where he intends to go,

He would not tell us;

I just, don't, know.

All I know is, I am alone,

When I am not alone.

Excellent write Aa, I found a book one time, "No Stranger to the Ground" by Richard Bach. Inside the cover was this inscription:

    For when a man
    no longer confuses himself
    with the definition of himself
    that others have given him,
    He is at once
    Universal and unique.

    ~ Alan Watts ~

      Thank you.
I will try to become Universal and unique, but I will remain imperfect.

"Give your heart the break it really needs...

I strip away the thoughts of who I'm supposed to be.
      (Who I'm supposed to be.)

      Perfectly imperfect...

      Perfectly imperfect like, me."

Yes Aa, you deciphered the true meaning of the quote. There can be no better you, than the you you want to be. ; )

A finely composed and a thought-provoking read AA

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

"What we've got here is, failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...

Did you wear a black armband,
          When they shot the man,
Who said, "Peace could last forever."

...What's so civil about war anyway?"

I'm in two minds about this. Both are thinking hard. A very enjoyable read.

          • Aa Harvey

            Thank you.

The first verse was inspired by seeing a t-shirt with a red rose on it and an Amy Winehouse T-shirt with a teardrop on it...

            "And in this house,
            I hear a voice.
            The paintings of all,
            They tell the tales of,
The faces that lie beyond these halls
And carry the weight of love and loss."

          • myself and me

"If a man is a man, he would not need to fight"
A man shall love and in love. Fight will take him to nowhere.
Sometimes, it is not a bad thing to be alone.

            Wonderful composed.

              Thank you.

The last verse means I am alone around other people because their moral character seem so different to mine.

              Peace, love and empathy.

              "Yeah!!!...

Don't you bring your sadness down on me,
              When peace is free.
There's a sun up ahead brother, waiting on me.
              Can't you see?

Can't the whole world love one another,
Throw down your weapons, fix all the hunger.
Don't you bring your sadness down on me,
              When peace is free,
              When peace is free..."

              • myself and me

Thank you for your explanation. Everything is clear now.

Aa, this is a beautiful poem and everything that can or should be said about it has already been said.
                Kudos

Thank you. I'm tired at the moment, so you only get a short quote tonight... Imagine Dragons...

"There's nothing left to say now...
There's nothing left to say now..."
