Am I Really Back?

Edward Charles McDevitt

Here I am at home just lying in this bed,

It was two weeks ago that I was almost dead.

2 days unresponsive and then becoming alert,

It was then I realized just how much I hurt.

The meds they were not giving for pain or my head,

So I asked to speak with the Ombudsman instead.

It was that night they kicked me out of there,

For it was not me for whom they seemed to care.

They told me if I left, I would surely die,

It was just another pathetic little lie.

Today the meds I finish and hope I will be fine,

I want the pacemaker that is to be mine!

One thing I know is I can't have this duress,

When all is over, there will be less stress!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This has been quite the ordeal for me. One thing good is that I no longer smoke! However, having to contact an Ombudsman in the hospital is not a pleasant thing to do so, keep that in mind all of you!!! Take care and thanks for the good wishes!
