Bury Me

LM1005

Under the earth, don't need air
No need to breathe when you're down there
No sight, no sound, only bitter dirt,
more appetizing than worldly hurt

Alone, no pain, no load to bear
Sweet sleep you'll have when you're down there
No pressure despite the weight above
No one to please, no broken love

At peace, relieved, no mask to wear
No part to play when you're down there
No wars to wage, no page to turn
No more piercing lessons learned

No thought to think, no heart to tear
No emotions to manage when you're down there
No racing time nor clocks to watch
Time ceases when your timeline stops

No lists to do, no responsible cares
Everything's complete when you're down there
No more wishing things could change
No more fear, no self imposed cage

Don't have to be perfect, no more error
Expectations fall when you're down there
Freedom from being anything at all
No correction given and no curtain call

Welcome FRIEND ~ Thanks for your first Poem ~ It is an elegant tribute to the GRAVE ! Excellent structure ~ balanced Quatrains and rhyming couplets (my favorite !) I don't believe in cremation so I guess I'll end up in a GRAVE in about 60 years time ! I have lost a BROTHER (16) so i can empathise with your loss. Stephen was killed in a car accident 13 years ago and you NEVER fully recover ! However I do believe We will meet again in Heaven ~ so for me the GRAVE will only be transient ! Thanks for caring & sharing BRIAN (UK) Please check my Poems ~ Thanks B

I am sorry for your loss as well. Death certainly does Sting deeply. I also do believe in heaven and being reunited with loved ones. I just for some reason needed to write about death from a relieving of worldly pain stance. Also from a place of still being our full human minded selves.

Welcome to MPS! First of all I am sorry for your loss and your pain. But you have penned a beautiful rhyming poem. I lost my mom not that long ago which I will be posting about maybe today. The pain never goes away but the sting lessens. You really did a great job on this and I can't wait to read more of your work! Thanks for sharing!
