Heat Wave

Ahsi

It's 107 degrees outside

The sun is out

The children play and laugh

People are splashing in the pool

But, all I can think about is how cold I am inside

All I feel is bitterness if I'm lucky

Or nothing at all usually

Inside it's below zero

The sun hides behind dark grey clouds

There is nothing but silence or the echo of my glass heart shattering

The only splashing I hear are my tears when they hit the floor

This heat has boiled me up in sadness and despair

I burn as I freeze up inside and no one cares

No one loves me

I don't even love me

This piece is incredible and you do a great job with contrasting imagery. Tomorrow is a new day, and the sun does come out again. Sometimes you have to take the strength no one else will give you. I wish you the best of luck.
