You need to be kind to the elderly,
Every day of the year,
Because they are the ones,
That we hold so very dear.
Treat them with respect,
Show them the love that they need,
And, maybe if they need the help,
Sit down with them and read.
They will be so very grateful,
And, God will thank you as well,
And, you will be blessed in so many ways,
That only time will tell.

A good write and true Hars.
I do a lot for the elderly - mainly giving art sessions and visiting. But it goes both ways - I see the elderly who barge their way past others, never say thank you when you hold a door open for them etc. I am lucky - I still walk tall, I am active, I exercise regularly each day, I do a little modelling for adverts, do all my own decorating and gardening , take an interest in many activities, and I'm a member of several committees mostly in local affairs. I also laugh when I hear people who are aged 60 and above as being elderly and in need of special sympathies and assistance. On the downside I tend to get unreasonably annoyed with older folk who drive slowly and hold up traffic - naughty I know. By the way I am 75 next birthday.
I did like the poem and recognise all the good intentions which I applaud but do feel it should be aimed more at the infirm rather than paint all older folk as being in need of special attention.
