The Morning Sky

Edward Charles McDevitt

I woke up this morning a little after five,

Feeling Blessed by the fact that I was alive.

The star shined bright in the pre-dawn sky,

Blessed again that I saw it with my own eye.

Ever bright by the reflection of the sun,

Knowing that in fact a new day had begun.

The vastness of the Universe and the little part we're in,

Expanding outward, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Seems everywhere you look stars are everyplace,

Looking back at you and shining in your face.

The beauty of this place and even where you look,

I can't explain the Miracle and what it must have took.

Take it and embrace don't let it pass you by,

And treasure all the beauty in the morning sky!

Thanks Chloe! If you know anything about me, I've been having trouble with my writes. The one I wrote this morning made me feel good again!

Well this truly amazing, I know sometimes it's hard. I sit and get so angry with myself when I can't get it quite right, so I totally emphasise with you. But you should be proud that you've came back and tried again!

Thanks Goldfinch! I really did feel good about the write this morning! Seeing that star (It was probably Mercury or Venus) gave me such an Uplift (Like your comment) and had to sit and put it down in writing while it was fresh in my mind. It's just weird how the Universe came into play as well.. Thanks again Goldfinch!!!

Your words shared with us such stunning beauty of seeing the morning with poetic eyes - another gem here Edward - very inspiring.

It was so strange Fay.. The way that star was shining, brought such a warm feeling deep inside my Soul.. I don't know how the Universe got incorporated in there! It just goes to show where our minds go when we as poets write! Thanks Fay for the awesome comment!

Beauty, it is said , is in the eye of the beholder. If that be so, then your eye must be the window to your soul. What have we if not gratitude and humility as we look upon heaven? It inspires like nothing else save the sea. And the sea is a smaller version of our unexplored universe, reflecting all. The was a wonderful write.

Wow F.G., your comment in itself inspired me! That write came to me so easy and natural. Rarely does that happen. When it does, I feel Blessed. You know as a writer how our minds work and, sometimes the words just don't come to us like that. Thanks F.G., I appreciate your comments!!!

I'm thankful that I did just happen to look up when I did. The sight was truly amazing Fred! I now look at things with a totally new perspective! Thanks so much for the comment Fred!!!
