I Am Lightning

poetboy123

When the sun is blocked out

Left to face gathering doubt

With a thunderous roar, I am lightning

Claiming my destiny of which I am king

Consumed by the shadows as they continue to rise

All of a sudden time stops as a fire is born in my eyes

Burning away all the obstacles until all I see is my prize

Determination overflowing jolting out down from the skies

Against these crashing waves of my past

Holding on, knowing this fight won’t be my last

With the sunrise just beyond the night sky

Lies my hope to which I’m forever tied

Blinding flash of light zooming through the wall of darkness

A ray of hope piercing through a wall of fears, full of bliss

Riding my dreams through this gray sky, letting out a roar

For I am lightning, prepared to strike and ready for more

Darkness be blinded, Fear be afraid, Doubt be reminded

You too shall fade

That it will all fade, as does my fear of this day when I read your words feeling like I'm free from my cage.

Very strong write, the light always has the strength to dispel the dark.
