Who am I?

Kadijah Siddique

Young girls influenced.

Before they shift into young women.

Before that understand anything.

They have a twisted sense of reality.

With the magazines and Tv’s

Following society.

Where is our humanity?

If nearly naked is modern.

We should be in the stone ages.

Not the stoned age.

Filled with sex, drugs, and rage.

We don't need to turn the page!

We need to start a new chapter.

I'm tired of seeing caked on makeup

Tired of hearing about breakups.

Babies without dads.

Without moms.

Tired of divorces.

Tired of broken hearts.

Tired of low self-esteem.

You need to be called beautiful.

To feel the beauty within you.

Don’t follow society

Be a minority.

You’re beautiful.

Without a boy.

You’re not a toy.

You’re more than that.

You're  worth what's in your heart.

Don’t let them break you apart.

Don’t that the give you scars.

You’re not the sum of your parts,

You’re smart, You’re intelligent.

You’re brilliant.

You’re a diamond.

Don’t show it.

Own it.

BE UNIQUE

I am a diamond.

Beyond this cloth, you call rubble

My beauty I conceal it.

My cloth I own it.

So what, I wear a niqab.

I am not oppressed.

By the way, I dress.

I'm impressed ...

By a society.

That has no variety.

That wants me to be naked but somehow dressed.

Forget that.

I will not be defined by my society.

I am defined by my personality.

I am me not your everyday barbie.
