Plentiful Pleas

orchidee

Tune: Louvan

('Lord of all being, throned afar')

Colossians 1 v.9-13

********

A prayer in need, what here to pray?

What do we need each night and day?

Here some things prayed, we may receive

Come to the Lord now and believe

That you might be filled, this a plea

Wit the knowledge of His will, be

Filled with all wisdom, and spiritual

Understanding, so shall not fall

That you might of the Lord, worthy

Walk unto all pleasing, true, free

Being fruitful in every good

Work, increasing as you sure would

Increasing in the knowledge true

Of God, and strengthened so be you

With all might, be it according

To His glorious power living

So strengthened unto all patience

And longsuffering, too presence

Of joyfulness, and thanks giving

Unto the Father, to Him sing

He who has made us partakers

Of the inheritance, confers

Grace on us, we share, saints in light

Delivered by Him from dark night

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8888 metre (Long Metre = LM). one line often runs on to the next line, in poetic fashion. Hope it's not too complex. It's from St Paul on all cylinders!

Thanks word. Sometimes we might pray 'generally' or for 'something or nothing' as it were. Here are some things Paul says we can pray for particularly.
