Poetic Dan

To live the moment that is now
Appreciate everything around

Don't live in the past
Get over it all

Okay, I've done it
Erased and forgotten

No feeling of guilt or shame
Not being there every step of the way

Let go of knowing you're the environment
Look at yourself and everything around you changes

Now to the next moment to appreciate
I find I'm around full circle again

To know in this "now" and the next "now"
I'll be missing your laughter or cry

Now that you are both grown up
I've got no choice but to let go more

As you find your voices to choose a path
Know that memorys of moments
Is the only true "now" that we have
Never stop making them moving forward.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Trying to remember its what you teach them to do for them selfs that count more than what you do for them. I've made sure they trust and know that my hugs are not just waiting for them but it's always with them. Is the seeds that we sow

A great write Dan. Quite often I'm caught up in the past as I'm a very nostalgic sort. But I'm always aware of moving forward. But this is a great reminder for me to appreciate my past but also to appreciate today and look forward too. ; )

Thank you my friend, that is exactly me. That was where my head was at yesterday stuck in the past not wanting to let go and move on, but it was causing the pain. I'd like to say it's gone but I'm sure it's just having a rest 😉

Fine admonition in these lined my friend. Letting go is the way to get pain to ease - - good read.

As was your comment, flowed through me with a breeze. I must be getting better at letting go.

PD, the movie is absolutely great!!! (How telling too that the girl jumped without hesitation, whereas the boy did hesitate a bit)
With my oldest now 40 years old, I went through that letting go thing a long time ago, but it never goes away completely. There is still a strong bond and a tendency to give them our five cents worth. And we do have the memories......

Yep and she still does it to this day (age 10)
I try so hard to learn this lesson you talk of my friend, and understand it never goes away never ending teaching they give.

Thank you for taking the time to watch this memory of mine too

I really enjoyed reading your poem. "Don't live in the past, get over it all" Definitely tried to if not succeeded. Trying to move forward. Congratulations as you obviously have too! Thanks for sharing this great poem!

I'm on the edge of doing so but only time will tell if I can just pull my socks up and get over it! I'm sure there are a few melt downs too go yet 😉

Very good write and very true, we must all move forward in our lives.

Thank you, they are words I'm trying to learn from. Hopefully I'll start taking my advice soon
