PHOTOS OF LIFE

lasergraph

(c) 2016 Edward York

We like to document our life,

Just to help remind,

And photograph for us to share,

Those moments froze in time.

Memories tend to fade away,

Perceptions that won't last.

The photographs that we collect,

Will tie us to the past.

We mostly save the happy times,

And capture them to share,

Just to hold the memories close,

And prove that we were there.

So we photo the happy times,

To help us to recall,

Then we can see them anytime,

Just hanging on the wall.

The looks backward seem to get more frequent as the days pile behind me.

It hits home for me as well Ed. Being the antique camera and photograph collector that I am, I'm always drawn into old photographs to listen for the story in the photograph. Thanks for sharing this write. I love it. ; )

Showing people photos on your phone isn't exactly the same. Old things pass and new takes over. I am just not ready for a pasture.

i believe our most precious possessions we hold are our pictures. Most would say money, but I would grab my pictures in an emergency anyday. I really loved your well written poem!

Thank you. We can glance back on what was and see what is but we as yet can't see what will be. Our photos are our bridge to the past. Thank you.

We photograph the happy times and even without pictures we usually remember the happy times. Your excellent poem made me want to go look for old pictures! Unfortunately, no time...but one of these days!
Great writing, I like it a lot!

Sometimes when the mood strikes, I grab a box of old photos. I can go through and refresh my memories of the events that have forever passed into my history. I wish now that I had kept a journal over the years to help refresh those memories long escaped from their storage in my mind.

Good write. Yes it is true that we photograph the happy times and when we look back at the pictures the sad times are forgotten.

We don't like remembering the sad times very much and we seem to focus on the happy moments. Our mind is designed to rapidly help us heal from the sad moments. Pictures help us revisit times we thought were worth recording.
