EARTHS EPITAPH

David Grubb

Soul of the Earth look around you now

Look at the destroyers wipe their brow

Seeds of destruction falling to the ground

To clear all of air, sea and ground

See him make a hole in the skin

See the cup of excuses flow over the brim

Honest we did not think it would be that bad

Let the innocent cry with tears that are sad

Look far and wide, for all eyes are dry

Feel the destruction of the sky

Feel the pain as animals die

It’s for our good mankind cries

Feel death as all the trees fall

Choke on air because there are no plants at all

Look at the sky in sadness as no birds fly

For life prepare to cry

Thank you DAVID for a stark reminder of the "Rape of Planet Earth" by ignorami ! The Earth's complex mineral cycles (Water ~ Carbon ~ Nitrogen ~ Oxygen etc) need to be kept in equilibrium for the EARTH to be a LIVING PLANET ! With increased CO2 and other pollutants the Earth is becoming uninhabitable and there is NOWHERE ELSE to go ! Venus is too hot and Mars too cold ! It's not just a case of "Prepare to Cry" ~ it's "Prepare to Die" ! I will be 90 in 2073 and hope to still be alive but GOD ALONE knows how things will be then ! It' not too late to act ~ but almost ! Thanks for an Elegant Poem (rhyming couplets) which carries a salutary warning. BRIAN Please check my Poems & Fusions BRIAN.
