Our eyes meet
And again I’m lost
How do you do it?
Just a smile and I’m tossed
You remind me
Of younger days
When the pull was strong
Of a woman’s charming ways
Yes, I’ve been in love before
Danced among the stars
Even had my heart broken
Decorated with scars
But that was long ago
My heart now all mended
Forget all the heartaches
Of past loves that ended
I look to the sunrise
For bright new days
To live a happy life
In a positive way
So please pardon me
When you catch my stare
I might seem hypnotized
In that brief moment we share
A feeling I’d thought forgotten
Concentration broken
My attention derailed
An attraction unspoken
You remind me
That I too can be lonely
Wanting to belong to another
Their one and only

Such an appeal in these honest words. Great read.
Thanks Fay. Having my poetry received so well by all of you is a blessing certainly. ; )
You have been pardoned my friend. What a delightful read, I saw myself salsa dancing with eyes catching everywhere. Like shooting stars we going fast, til two stay and see if a new world they can come to create.
With your words so tender I hope this manifests
No, it didn't manifest into anything. And I never expected it to. But it was inspired by a very attractive waitress at a restaurant earlier this year. Thanks for reading and your enthusiastic compliment. ; )
A fine write AP. And would I know her?! lol.
You might orchi, if you've been in and around Halifax, Massachusetts in the last year. ; )
Nope, AP. Maybe Halifax, UK, though even that's far from where I live!
I found this intriguing but , it ends kinda sad ... good poem though
Thanks for your compliment and reading WL. I guess you're right about the ending being sad, but the feeling of sadness for me is only temporary. I think it was the inspiration that perked me up. ; )
AP, your poem is great. It did draw me in right away. Sometimes a total stranger will have that effect on us, and you worded it beautifully.
Thanks Fred. Yes, a stranger she was, but I made eye contact with her long enough to inspire this write. Finding inspiration when you least expect it is a blessing. ; )
A very mesmerizing read 😊 You have captured the unique spark of attraction and beauty between innocent moments. Great piece!
Well thank you very much Raven. That is exactly the way it appeared to me when I wrote it. I was for the moment speechless. Thank you for reading and your nice compliment. ; )
So sweetly worded, I loved the glimmer of sadness towards the end
When I wrote it, it wasn't as much of sadness as it was of affirmation of a state of mind. Thank you for reading and your comment. ; )
