Definition Of Beauty - Jaylan E. Mitchell

jaylan eneva

I’ve got some curves. I’ve got a little pudge. I’ve got a couple love handles because sometimes I eat too much.

I’ve got big tits and that’s all fine and dandy, but my hips are too wide even though “my face is pretty.”

I’m funny, a great friend, one of the guys, but you don't look at me because there’s no gap between my thighs.

You look at the other girls that are a size zero, and you praise them when you can count their ribs like they're some hero.

What’s wrong with you? That’s not ok when girls are hugging toilets and starving themselves for days.

Because sometimes thin is just not thin enough when girls don't feel pretty in pounds of makeup.

In the morning you step on the scale, but the number is the same as yesterday so you’ve already failed.

You feel worthless and ashamed, so here comes the self-doubt and blame.

It’s a game of numbers, be it pounds or size. I wish everyone would wake up and realize.

The world’s definition of beauty is only what you can see, even though what really matters is what lies beneath.

A heart full of love and a smile of joy is what matters to me because what’s in your heart is my definition of beauty.

Love and understanding, that comes genuinely, can bring together a broken world that needs unity.

Embrace imperfection, it makes you unique. So don’t hide in a crowd, go strut in the streets.

Celebrate what makes you, you, because you are a definition of beauty.
