Rutting Buck
A rutting buck can mean danger
When he’s about your place
He challenges all in anger
And chases them away
He runs with his doe
Up and down the woods
The others watch them go
With the match there understood
The times that they rest
Are few and far between
It’s his stamina that she tests
And her tactics keep him lean
The romance is usually over
After several days
In a month they’ll do it over
If again she turns his way
The squirrels all celebrate
When the ruckus is finally through
They chase each other round and round
And do some mating too

Never get near a stag in the rutting season, they don't care who they but. Good write.
