To Surmount

poetboy5454

I’ve reached the chasm, fashioned by my own limits

Reaching unheard depths seemingly with no end in darkness

Time stands still, that blank look still frozen upon their face

Doubt coiling within my mind, can’t keep up the pace

Though I was paralyzed, my heart suddenly begins to speed

Urging me to take the leap, gifting me a hunger to feed

Tired of feeling as if I’m not enough

My weaknesses will soon grow tough

Eyes closed, jumping blindly into the endless abyss

Forgetting my worries, needing to change, this shot I can’t miss

Transforming into a fall as I witness the grey clouds storm in

Lightning strikes, rain pouring into my heart, an empty bin

Shadows consume me, attempting to grasp at my dreams

And through these phantoms, I know the sun still gleams

Fire charring the rain as I now begin my own evolution

Forging myself anew, painting a path, my own solution

And just when I thought when I had thought I had reached the top

These mountains loom before me, I must never stop
