Garden Spider
I could not help but intervene
When I freed a grasshopper caught
The garden spider was off the scene
And I liked grasshoppers a lot
What he did with his life
I really cannot say
But I’m sure that he still chews
And oozes tobacco when afraid
If snakes could eat all the spiders
That would solve the problem
But there would be hell to pay
With the snakes there in the garden
I consulted mother nature
And she let me know her plan
Let the spiders have their grasshoppers
They are eating all our land

Not nice to fool with mother nature! Cute poem, WC.
Thanks Louis.
Nature always knows best, it is homo sapiens that is trying to destroy it.
Thanks Goldfinch.
This was so pleasant to read. It took me back to my childhood. I absolutely adore insects and find them fascinating. Always have! Thanks for that! Great write!
Thanks Virago! I really appreciate your comment! One of my best high school memories is of an insect collection for freshman biology. I really enjoyed the assignment. One of my classmates went on to get a biology degree with an emphasis in entomology!
Oh that's cool!! I used to go out collecting caterpillars and observing other insects out in nature in my school years. Now I just don't have time for that! Any way, I can't wait for another poem!!
