When you make the choice to bring me into your home
Then you should be ready to live a bit as I do
I like to lick, chew on most things, I don't care how much you spent on anything.
I like to gard and really like to chase, to take a nice stroll every day.
The history of our connection goes far back
Yet we both still can live in fear of expressing ourselves
This road is ours to walk together and that's what I'll do
As long as compassion and balance is our key to move
That we both share what we like to do
Mostly have fun, strokes and get loads of food, trying to love every breath we use.
Sincerely yours
The dog

Haha ha Dan - - what a surprise at the end of this intriguing write. Had to read it over again and I am still smiling.
Wow two smiles and a rewind, truly honoured. Thank you kindly!
I knew it was the dog from the first line. Great idea and write. ; )
Glad you was on paw!
Had to stop myself going to deep out turning it negative 😉
No, a really interesting viewpoint of a dog. Really brought a smile to me as I miss my own Shelby. ; )
I do tell myself and customers that I feel one of many things they are here to teach us is to, love, live and let go my friend. But I had a tear for one of my old friends today, may they continue to bring our hearts joy
If they live on in our hearts, then we're never alone. ; )
After reading the quote I was ready for some deep thoughts challenging my mind. Then, by the third line of the poem I realized you were talking about a dog, and getting to the 'mostly fun' line, was smiling too.
But then, I also realized that you are talking about much more here than 'just a dog'. The 'history of our connection', 'fear of expressing', 'walking together', and 'compassion and balance', apply to any relationship, be it animal or human, as does the last line. So, challenge my mind it did!!!
Great, great poem, PD!
Wow, my friend you got my mind to a tee!
I tired so hard to keep it from going deep but yet you could see perfectly the place I was coming from.
Mother nature has as a lot to teach, the worst part for me is what she said when I was taught to listen, it's that nearly all of the time we are fulfilling our own needs and disregarding others needs for the "greater" good.
Thank you again for the comment buddy!
Good fun write, may the dog and you share a great journey together.
Apon that great journey
Many I listen to their wisdom
Spreading the harmony that was intended
