I was sitting on my cloud,
Minding my own business.
Just contemplating,
Just contemplating contemplation,
When God arrived.
“Can I sit on the cloud next to you?” he asked,
“Of course you can” I said,
“It’s a free Universe”,
“That’s profound” he said,
“No not profound, just a bit of fun” I replied.
“I gave you that” he said,
“Gave me what?”
“Fun” he said.
“How come if you gave us fun”, I replied
“I don’t see many laughing in that world”
“You are not looking hard enough” he said,
“All you can see is the bad and the sad”
“But that is all I hear about!” I shouted.
“Ah” he said, “You are looking at the news”,
“All the news does is show the bad and the sad”
“But it must be right” I replied,
“It says so on the news!”
“Look passed the news” He said,
“There are so many happy people”
“So many having fun, many more than you see on the news”,
“But why is there so much sorrow” I replied,
“Because people forget what I gave them” He said,
“So what have they forgotten?” I asked,
“They have forgotten I gave them a sense of humour” He replied,
“Don’t be daft I said, we all know that you do not have a sense of humour”,
“Of course I do.” He replied,
“I have accepted you!”

A fine write Gold! lol. There's the saying 'If God has accepted me, he will accept anyone'!
Yet there is simplicity and profundity in human beings being accepted by God by coming to Him through Christ.
Thank you Orchi and very true.
In Plymouth, Massachusetts there is astatue about 140 feet tall called "Our Forefather's Monument" of a lady holding a book in one arm, and the other hand pointing a finger up towards the sky. Whenever I see it I wonder if God has a sense of humor and envision a statement to God, "Hey God, pull my finger"
Sounds like a great Statue, be sure that the finger is not getting longer as God pulls on it.
Thank you for the comment.
Yes true. And BTW, that finger is the index finger, not the middle. ; )
I would not have thought otherwise.
Just wanted to make that clear, especially if God is paying attention. ; )
A good reminder here Goldi - fun is the gift which we often forget.
Thank you Fay, fun is so wonderful.
Good fun in an intelligent poem , good writing !
Thank you WL, fun is good for all of us.
Oh, Snap! He got you with that zinger, Goldie. Love the poem, a beauty.
Thank you Louis, He always gets me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Goldfinch, you took a great weight off my shoulders. I can now breathe easy because I figured if He accepts you, he for sure will accept me!
I am glad that you are relieved from that weight, any time I can help I am willing so to do.
Haha, nice lighthearted piece!
Thank you PB.
Yep, his sense of humour is wicked! Once you learn to accept what he/she/it is showing you. Wish i'd seen it a long time ago. I hope your piece encourages some to think about it and hopefully see.
Thank you DA, encouragement is good as is acceptance of your own God. "May your God go with you".
Hi GF,
