Lord Of All

Tune: Diademata

('Crown Him with many crowns')

Colossians 1 v.15-19

********

Christ Jesus the image

Of God, He is the bridge

For man to come to God, He saves

For us the way He paves

Though God invisible

Jesus reveals Him all

He the firstborn of each creature

Has first place far, is sure

For by Christ all things were

Created, all concur

To confess Him their Creator

Let all to worship stir

Things in heaven and earth

He gave all value, worth

Things visible, invisible

All are made by Him, all

Whether they be thrones here

Or dominions near

Or principalities or power

Through years and days and hours

Natural, supernatural

Each creed, class, state and school

All created by Him and for

Him, He Lord evermore

And He before all things

Is, all Him homage brings

By Him all things consist, for He

Head of the body be

His body here the church

His Spirit does us search

He the beginning, and firstborn

From the dead, curtain torn

Curtain that veiled he way

To God, lest man should stray

Unholy into such a place

Awesome place, He does grace

Holy of Holies now

Opened, and this is how

'Tis through the Son, God's holy one

His redemption work done

So all it is ordained

That He should e'er be named

pre-eminent in all things He

Takes the highest place, see

For the Father is pleased

Humbly received, not seized

That in Christ should all fulness dwell

His glories we e'er tell
