Slowly, step by hesitant step
He was shuffling through
His garden of memories
Now and then stopping to smell
One of the beautiful flowers
Wearing petals of lost times
Wistfully looking up to
The tall trees of past moments
Remembering her by the
Delicately fragrant scents
Seeing her in the beauty
Of the dew dripping leaves
Hearing her sweet voice
In the soft whistling
Of low hanging branches
Feeling her presence when
Brushing past elder bushes
His breath slowed and steadied
With contented mind at ease
He knew he was not alone
She was with him every step
With shiny eyes and a shy smile
He looked up and quietly whispered
“We’ll be together again soon, my Love”

Indeed! All of our loved ones await us. Something I really look forward to, as I'm sure you do too, Fred. A beauty of a poem!
Thank you so much, Louis. You are right, I do look forward to it, eventually. Want to hang around a little bit longer!
btw, funny how you, Santita and I all published at 0:00
Yes, that was fun ... great minds?
Wonderful loving write Fred, love 'the garden of memories' it brings such a vivid picture into my mind.
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Goldfinch!
A fine write Fred.
Thank you for reading and commenting, orchidee! Ever so slowly, we all do get to that point in our lives! 🙂
Beautiful write Fred. Never thought of the memories as a garden, but I like that. ; )
Thanks AP, but that is where the imagination comes in! 🙂
And as we tend our gardens, our memories grow and bloom with contentment. ; )
Nicely done! I've been looking up like this for over half my life, and the tingling I may felt thinks you are right. But like you said I'll still stick around for a while 😉
Thank you PD. I guess we all look up once in a while, but I think it will be good for both of us to stick around for a long while!
Very nice Fred , a wonderful poem lots of garden imagery equating to love . I relate
Thanks WL, looking at a beautiful garden sometimes does trigger memories.
Missing someone who has been lost, and you've captured it exquisitely, finding remembrances in things they favored and in your daily life, and still holding on gently to the hope of tomorrows together. A lovely poem and tribute, really, to the love you once had and still have for each other. Beautiful poem. - Phil A.
Thanks so much, Phil, for reading and your kind and thoughtful comment!

Thank you Christina! Yes, I want you to stick around a lot longer, as will I. I am sure we both have many more poems somewhere inside that need to get out.
