Together Again

Slowly, step by hesitant step

He was shuffling through

His garden of memories

Now and then stopping to smell

One of the beautiful flowers

Wearing petals of lost times

Wistfully looking up to

The tall trees of past moments

Remembering her by the

Delicately fragrant scents

Seeing her in the beauty

Of the dew dripping leaves

Hearing her sweet voice

In the soft whistling

Of low hanging branches

Feeling her presence when

Brushing past elder bushes

His breath slowed and steadied

With contented mind at ease

He knew he was not alone

She was with him every step

With shiny eyes and a shy smile

He looked up and quietly whispered

“We’ll be together again soon, my Love”

Indeed! All of our loved ones await us. Something I really look forward to, as I'm sure you do too, Fred. A beauty of a poem!

    • FredPeyer

Thank you so much, Louis. You are right, I do look forward to it, eventually. Want to hang around a little bit longer!
btw, funny how you, Santita and I all published at 0:00

Beautiful write Fred. Never thought of the memories as a garden, but I like that. ; )

            • FredPeyer

Thanks AP, but that is where the imagination comes in! :-)

And as we tend our gardens, our memories grow and bloom with contentment. ; )

Nicely done! I've been looking up like this for over half my life, and the tingling I may felt thinks you are right. But like you said I'll still stick around for a while ;)

                • FredPeyer

Thank you PD. I guess we all look up once in a while, but I think it will be good for both of us to stick around for a long while!

Thanks WL, looking at a beautiful garden sometimes does trigger memories.

A splendiferous writing Fred. This poem slowed down my breathing as I read it, and flowed along with it. Captures bittersweet emotions. Loved it.

                    • FredPeyer

Mahalo Diamond, I like the word 'splendiferous'! Glad you liked the poem.

This is so beautiful, Fred! This garden of memories was so well crafted - I was there in it! Wonderful imagery & emotion! Really enjoyed the ending :). Favorited!

Missing someone who has been lost, and you've captured it exquisitely, finding remembrances in things they favored and in your daily life, and still holding on gently to the hope of tomorrows together. A lovely poem and tribute, really, to the love you once had and still have for each other. Beautiful poem. - Phil A.

Beautiful poem! Loved it all the way through. I'll stick around a bit longer but the ending was wonderful!

                                  • FredPeyer

Thank you Christina! Yes, I want you to stick around a lot longer, as will I. I am sure we both have many more poems somewhere inside that need to get out.

Lovely, descriptive poem. I enjoyed the fact it didn't make me sad about his predicament. It made me hopeful that he would see his love again, past his garden of memories.

                                    • FredPeyer

Thank you James, I don't think we have to be sad since I do believe that we will all meet again some time, if not in body, then in spirit. But hey, that is my belief, and I do not expect everybody else to have the same belief.

                                      • James Michael

                                        Fred,
I do share that belief. My poem the other day was my idea of an experiment in music. It was lame.

One of your best, truly a really stunning piece!

                                        • FredPeyer

Thank you Martina, while I do appreciate your comment, I do think it is too good (the comment, not the poem). I do like this poem, but think it could use some improvement. Ah well, the next one will be a short one again. Less work! :-)
