Lightning Won't Strike

poetboy5454

Every moment seems to slip through our hands

For we could search every inch of these lands

Trying to find those times we have forever lost

Each instance a decision, each decision with a cost

Only understanding now the worst kind of choices

The ones we chose nothing at all, silencing our voices

Dooming ourselves to be a memory

Forgotten upon the wall of history

Never tried to reach for the sun

Ended ourselves before we had begun

Silence pouring from our mouths at the view of darkness

Cursing ourselves for every opportunity we managed to miss

Decided to step down rather than stand up against the fear

Living lives beside dying dozens, year after futile year

No one can wait until lightning strikes for them to take a chance

Rise from the sidelines, take a deep breath and join the dance

Locked from a brighter tomorrow, change is the only key

Our greatest choice, to fade upon the past or to paint a path towards victory
