TIME TRIAL

Gayathri Priya

In a static limbo Time stood,

But the clock ticked away;

Though nothing actually moved,

With strange giddiness I'd sway.

Is it an abyss or an asylum I sought,

That time now had me brought?

An asylum from past,

Or the abyss approaching fast?

Is this called 'buying time',

Or swindling oneself of it?

For time is so 'sublime'

One can never have enough of it!

Then again one feels,

That maybe time is meant to freeze;

For it cares not for man and his needs;

As they say:

"Time waits for none,

Not even for fun";

What job has it to surmise,

When noticed once and wasted thrice?!?!

So whose fault is it,

Who's the culprit?

A question as very infernal,

As the strife betwixt

transient man and Time so eternal.

And as to if I dare

To answer a query so rare;

I am always 'on the fence',

As to how time came or whence;

I pose, in answer,the same question that left many bleary,

And Time quietly replies"Get up dear,it's time, Hurry!!"
